Frans-Jan Mulschlegel

Frans-Jan Mulschlegel, a computer crime specialist, is currently attached to the Digital Forensic Training Unit of the Police Academy of the Netherlands.

 

In 1994, he was recruited to organize the OSINT unit for the newly established European Union law enforcement agency, Europol. He managed the unit from 1994 until 2006, assembling an expert team that quickly became the pioneer group in the use of open sources for law enforcement. In 2006, he returned to the Police Academy of the Netherlands, where he served as project manager for the International Police Expertise Platform (IPEP).

 

Mulschlegel grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and attended the University of British Columbia before moving to the Netherlands in 1974.
